
Trust + Peace

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12
The verses that follow go on to explain the "full armor of God." The breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, shield of faith helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit. I've heard this armor of God explained in practical terms, and the one that stood out to me the most is the gospel of peace. "Having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace creates a stability that even Satan cannot undo” - Dr. Tony Evans.
This is counter intuitive to everything in our culture that boasts power, the drive to be the last to speak, needing to be right, placing our convictions and opinions above love, humility, listening, true strength, compassion, and relationship.
It boils down to where we place our trust, and the saving of this world is not hinged in my hands or yours, it does not hang on who holds a title. It hangs on the cross with Jesus and the Holy Spirit's work in you and me.
We can trust in the truth of the world or the truth of God's word. We can place our hope in those in earthly power, or in the One in heavenly power. Only one of those options will bring true lasting peace.
Jesus - the King of Kings - is seated on the throne, is worthy of our trust and hope, and calls us to the gospel of peace. In God we trust.
